GlobalDirectParts.com has posted a video and photos on its site that it claims could be the frame and internals of the next version of the iPhone, either the “Verizon” CDMA iPhone or simply the iPhone 5. The site, a parts retailer, is offering up the individual parts for sale.?"

  • A video from the sites shows off of the various “iPhone 5″ parts and compares them with similar items from the previous iPhone 4. Most notable among the differences are significant changes to the iPhone’s new external antenna, with a third black separation band added on the right side of the phone, and one of the bands moved from the top of the phone to just above the ringer switch, presumably to fix the sweet spot issues that, when touched, can lead to signal loss.
  • Besides some trivial changes to internal “bolt” holes and lengths of electronic cables, the video also points out a baffling lack of holes for the camera in the new internal casing.

  • The inclusion of a SIM card slot casts some doubt on whether this is truly a Verizon CDMA iPhone, as Verizon doesn’t use SIM cards in its phones (with the exception being the Blackberry 8830, a “world phone” that lets users roam on CDMA and GSM wireless networks. Check out CNET’s review of the 8830, which, interestingly enough, also does not have a camera).

  • Many have speculated that Apple will use a dual CDMA/GSM radio inside the next iPhone instead of risking customer confusion by selling separate iPhone units for CDMA (Verizon) and GSM (AT&T) in the US. In a 2009 earnings call, Apple executive Tim Cook clarified Apple’s desire to offer “one phone for the whole of the world.” It’s possible that this is simply that, an iPhone 5 that can run on both GSM (AT&T) and CDMA (Verizon).
