How can i sync and transfer iPad 2 files to computer on PC?

Since the upgrade to 4.2 I can't sync my iPad. Every time i plug it in it starts the process and then crashes the iPad, freezing the bar on iTunes. I have tried restoring the iPad from the backup and I have also tried reinstalling iTunes. I am running iTunes on a windows 7 PC. Any one got any other tips I can try to backup my iPad to computer?
