Downgrade ipod touch from IOS 4 to 3.1.3 or 3.1.2

         There are many iPod touch users who regret upgrading iPod touch to IOS 4, although IOS 4 has many advantages, it has some annoying problems. For instance, sluggish screen rotation, slow web browsing and unusable iBooks and so on. All in all, iPod touch becomes very sluggish and the battery drains soon if ipod touch is updated to IOS 4.
         As a result most of iPod users want to downgrade their iPod touch from 4.0 firmware to 3.1.3/3.1.2 firmware, so here are steps you can do:

Step1: Install the latest version of iTunes.

Step 2： Connect iPod Touch to PC and turn off it. Then put iPod Touch into DFU mode. by holding the power(top left button) and home(circle on bottom) at the same time for 10 seconds, releasing the power button after the 10 seconds while still holding the home button.

Step 3: Now open iTunes and do a normal reset by holding down the "SHIFT" key (Windows) or "Alt" key (Mac) and clicking restore in iTunes .Now select the original 3.1.3/3.1.2 firmware and wait for the completion. Normally it will take 10-15 minutes to downgrade iPod Touch 2G/3G on 4.0 firmware.
         Attention: If error messages such as 1011, 1013, 1015 appear just ignore them.

Step 4: Download iRecovery for Windows or Mac. [Skip to step 5 if you are a Mac user]
         For windows users install libusb filter before executing iRecovery. If you are on Windows 7, install this as Administrator and by selecting compatibility mode as ‘Windows XP (SP 2)’.

Step 5: Mac users should start terminal and Windows users should start command prompt. Then navigate to the directory where iRecovery exists and execute it with following command and proceed as instructed.

Step 6: Reboot your iPod Touch (Press and hold the Home and Power buttons for 10 seconds).
         Caution: If an error message like 1601, 1602, 1600 is encountered, start again from step 2.
         If everything goes smoothly then you must be successful in downgrading iPod Touch 4.0 firmware to 3.1.3/3.1.2 firmware.
