Avex iPhone Video Converter User Guide
Avex iPhone Video Converter is a one-click solution to convert AVI, DivX/Xvid, WMV, MPEG videos (and many more) to iPhone MP4. It is characterized by its straightforward interface, superb video/audio output quality and fast conversion speed.
The tutorial below will show you how to convert videos with Avex iPhone Video Converter. After downloading and installing Avex iPhone Video Converter, follow the steps below to accomplish the conversion tasks.
Step 1. Getting Started:
--Click "Choose DVD" or "Choose Video". Wait for main movie to begin.
--Click "Convert". Video will be converted under the default settings.

(NOTE:
1. Most DVDs will play a few short movie trailers before entering the main movie. The software will fast forward to the main movie by default. This will take a few seconds. You can disable the initial fast forward in "Options" menu -> Uncheck "Fast forward to DVD main movie when first play".
2. To convert other DVD episodes, click, select the episode and then click "Convert" again. )
- Audio Codec: Audio codec is pre-defined in each of the profile you've selected. Usually, you don't need to change this field.
- Audio Bitrate (in Kbits per second): Audio bitrate refers to how much data is allocated to store audio signals. The higher audio bitrate, the better audio quality. There are some other factors that influence the audio quality as well, such as audio sampling below.
- Audio Sampling (in Hz): Audio sampling means how frequently an audio sample is retrieved per second.
The average human ear can hear sounds in the frequency range 20-20000Hz. To reproduce a sound at a given frequency, the audio sampling rate must be more than twice that frequency. An audio sampling frequency of 44100Hz is normally good enough to have cut-offs above normal human hearing range. (Telephone lines use 8000Hz audio sampling. It is good enough for human voice, but not enough for music with high frequencies. )
- Audio Channels: 1 means Mono; 2 means stereo.
- Audio Volume: you can change output audio volume in "Options" menu -> "Output Settings" dialog. The default volume level is 5 (original volume).
- The default time setting is to convert the whole video from the very beginning.
- You can manually set the "Duration" or "Start" in "hour:min:sec" format or in "n" seconds. For example, you can set Duration: "0:10:00" (or "600") and Start: "0:02:00" (or "120"). It'll convert the video from 0:02:00 for a duration of 10 minutes.
- In some rare case, some video or DVD may not show its total time or its total time is wrong. You can set the Duration to "4:00:00" (because movies are usually less than 4 hours long). The conversion will stop when the video reaches its end or if 4 hours video has been converted.
- Video Codec: Video codec is pre-defined in each of the profile you've selected. Usually, you don't need to change this field.
- Video Size (Width x Height): This field describes the size of each video frame in pixels, also called video resolution.
- Video Bitrate (in Kbits per second): Video bitrate refers to how much data is allocated to store motion pictures. For the same video codec, the higher video bitrate, the better video quality. Bitrate under different codecs are not comparable. Some codec like h264 or WMV9 can achieve the same video quality by using half of the video bitrate other codec requires.
- FPS (Frames Per Second): This field refers to the number of pictures displayed per second in order to form continuous motions. 24 fps is quite enough to get more a continous motion. And for portable video devices, 15 fps is all good in most cases.
Troubleshootings:
- DVD Audio:
If you cannot hear audio, go to "Options" menu -> "DVD Settings", choose a proper DVD Audio Decoder. For example InterVideo Audio Decoder or CyberLink Audio Decoder. You can also choose AC3Filter to fix the problem. (AC3Filter Download)
- Key Exchange Failed:
Try to exit the program and run again. Or upgrade to DirectX 9.0c. For further information see this article. You may try to select a "DVD Navigator" other than "Microsoft DVD Navigator" in the DVD Settings dialog. If you still experience the problem, download and install DVD43.
- DVD parental control:
If you cannot play some DVD due to parental control, please check and make sure your Windows Media Player can play the DVD correctly.
NOTE: you need an administrator account to change the settings if you get this error.
- DVD subtitle(subpicture) ON/OFF
It is recommended to use the native DVD menu shown in the preview panel to set subtitle(subpicture) ON or OFF. (Press "DVD menu" button on the right to show native DVD menu in the preview panel) You may also change the subtitle(subpicture) in the program's Options menu. But there exists some DVD that requires the change must be made in the native DVD menu instead of the program's menu.
- RealMedia, MOV format:
The support for rm / rmvb video file is experimental. If you installed some software component (e.g. Moonlight Player) and have difficulties in recording rm / rmvb files, it is recommended to uninstall such component first. MOV verion 1 and version 2 are supported. Some MOV files can not be played in Windows Media Player, thus they are not currently supported by our product as well.
